It was bound to happen. The Quiksilver pro in Puerto Escondido was due for some epic surf. This year it didn't fail to show. With solid 10+ sets through the early rounds, local surfers (Angelo Lozano, Oscar Moncada, David Rutherford and Diego Cadena) and familiar names (Peter Mel, Mark Healy, Ricky Whitlock and Kevin Sullivan) put on a show. As the sets poured through surfers put their lives on the line for a chance at the $12,000 purse.
As the swell dropped for the finals, the quality of the waves improved, as with the surfing. Contest dierctor Gary Linden made the perfect call, providing the finals with quality surf.
